5 Months: Bigger, Cuter, Louder!

What are the interesting characteristics of a baby who has just turned 5 months old? Well... she's just adorable, for starters, but that's been true her whole life. Elaine's becoming more and more fun as she grows. Eating her toes has become a regular activity while changing her diaper. Very cute!

Elaine's fine motor skills are improving so she's able to hold certain toys for longer periods of time. Everything she grabs goes in her mouth, of course. We're needing to get her some new toys for just such mouth-chewing-sucking activities. She loves sitting in her bumbo chair and throws her arms around in an enthusiastic drummer kind of way. On the floor, she rolls to her side and now prefers to sleep on her side at night. She still greet us with a smile every time she wakes from a nap or a night's sleep. What's exciting for Mommy is she's slowly starting to move into a regular nap/awake time schedule with one nap in the early morning and a long nap in the afternoon. Exploratory vocalizing is also a favorite pass time, especially if there's no music playing or if Mommy & Daddy are being too boring.

Elaine loves new stimulation. During our time in Colorado Springs, she loved meeting new people and never complained about being carted off to some new place or activity. She let us know when she was tired of course but she always smiled and loved being held by friends who were complete strangers to her.

Of course, we just can't get enough of her and her little milestones. This week we're gonna start introducing new foods into her all-milk diet. We'll start on yams, I think. We'll let you know how it goes!

A fun feature on our camera is a little video setting that takes a brief video in between taking pictures. So you have a little video clips to animate the pictures you just took. Kinda fun! So here's the 5 month old photo shoot we took for this entree!

"Beautiful, Dahling! Beautiful! "
