Last Christmas Apart

2011 is the last Christmas Jeremy and I will spend apart from each other as an unmarried couple. We've spent the holiday with our respective families of origin while updating each other with pictures and stories from our homesteads.

Christmas morning at the Sustar's house this year was a marathon of presents and excitement. Here's one of Joe's presents, a fire station, truck, and firefighter figures he can play with when he's not volunteering with the REAL fire department down the street. Conveniently, his playset is also age appropriate for 3 year old Siena.

An exciting gift for Jeremy and me, a new scrap book for our Christmas cards! We'll proudly update this album for years to come!

The title of this post is a comment made to me by a friend who attended my Holiday Cookie Party on Dec 9th. I believe the pictures speak for themselves as to how festive this party was. Sugar cookies being made, decorated, homemade mulled wine, eggnog, fire, soup, Nat King Cole records playing... and of course, a very festive hostess.

Finkletown

Jeremy and I are huge Christmas fans. We busted out a few decorations last week including Jeremy's family heirloom, a collection of Norman Rockwell's Christmas in Stockbridge models. We've embellished them with "twinkle fluff" and fake trees. We've named our little holiday village "Finkletown." Enjoy!

Tigers Beat Yankees!

I called my father at 6:15 MT, assuming the game was to start at 6:37 MT.  The boys already had a 2-0 lead, so I quickly bid my father adieu and flipped open the laptop.  3.5 grueling hours of wine swilling, bases loaded jams, near home runs by the mighty Yankees and 4-years-taken-off-my-life later, I was able to howl with joy as "Papa Grande" sat down the mightiest of the mighty Yanks - Granderson, Cano, Rodriguez!  Now we just need the Cards and Brewers to win their game fives tomorrow to better the odds of an all-midwestern Fall Classic.  Could there be a Facknitz/Weidmann, Tigers/Cards clash the year before the wedding?  And who, just who will Lindsay root root root for?  Stay tuned....

Sept 16 TIGERS WIN DIVISION!!!

This video says it all... elation, joy, magic.  25 years of conscious fandom, a display case of collectables, through thick, thin and very thin... Jeremy watches as his Tigers clinch their first division crown since 1987.

Sept 15, 2011 Minus One Anniversary

 Started off our Minus One Anniversary with a little mock ceremony at Shove Chapel.

Then we had champagne at Garden of the Gods Club, our future reception location.  

 
 Just so you know, the "element" for a Minus One Anniversary is Turkish cloth. Jeremy and I actually bought these gifts for one another from the same Turkish store WITHOUT KNOWING IT! We knew we were buying gifts for one another but we kept it a secret. So it was an especially magical gift exchange when we realized we bought gifts from the same store! I got a scarf, Jeremy got a towel. So there it is, were officially telepathically connected to each other.

Finished off our first anniversary with dinner at the Mona Lisa in Manitou Springs. Fondue and Magic. (Videos of Shove to follow)

Welcome to The Facknitz Ferret Farm!

Welcome family members and chosen friends!

This is a private blog (members only!) to keep you in the know as to what's going on in our family out here in Colorado Springs!

What family, you ask?  Well, OUR FAMILY!  We are going to get married next year (looks like September), and Lindsay is going to become... a Facknitz!  So the two of us are a family - and someday, maybe, our family will grow!

No, we don't have cute children to entertain you with yet.  Nor do we have a puppy.  We don't even have a ferret.  Neither of us have ever even owned a ferret.  We chose this animal to represent our blog for alliteration purposes only.  But check out our mascot in the background of this blog!   He's laying down back-up tracks for our upcoming album!  Way to go, Zackafuss!

What's new with us?  Lindsay is starting grad school at "the Harvard of the West", Colorado College in June.  She got a $9,500 scholarship to continue her schooling!  Meanwhile, she's starting to feed some of her guitar students to Jeremy.  Jeremy is finishing up his first semester back at school in over 13 years and is now working for Paul Franco and Ameriprise Financial as Manager of Operations.  This is a full-time gig with a nice salary and health benefits to boot!  With the economy the way it is, Jeremy figured it was time to retire from music as a career, at least for the foreseeable future.  But he loves his new job and he's very excited about the new challenges that await him!

As you already know (see last years Christmas card), we think we're pretty cute... and we like to try and entertain.  So keep an eye out for more stories, happenings, wedding announcements and movie parodies of our favorite blog, "The Sustar Pumpkin Patch".
