The most recent video taken is Elaine holding her head up. She loves being upright these days, wanting to see the world while pivoting her huge melon. Quite a workout!

A few weeks ago Jeremy took Elaine out for a walk when it was entirely too cold, she was tired, and she screamed a lot. When they got back, she gave him a scowl that made you back away slowly. (Listen for her low growling breaths)

Elaine discovered the ceiling fan around 6 weeks old. She just loved staring at it and got quite excited when we turned it on. Thus, to make it more interesting, we tied colorful napkins to it. Vooala! Homemade mobile!

FACKNITZES!
Grandma and Grandpa Facknitz are Elaine's biggest fans. Sleeping or screaming, smiling or scowling, Elaine holds their wrapped attention and ever present loving smiles. They made it down from Holland, MI after Grammy wrestled with a long coughing illness. Luckily, their 5 day stay was worth the wait!

It was a fabulous weekend with the Facknitz fam and Elaine so looks forward to hanging out with her Michigander family again soon!

While they were getting a healthy dose of granddaughter, Jeremy and I enjoyed a good amount of freedom to run errands, go for walks, and even get out for a date night to a Billy Joel concert. Super fun! We also had Anne Weidmann join us for the festivities. Jeremy and I are serious Billy Joel fans. We've got a whopping 10 BJ albums, the most amount of albums by one artist in our collection. We've also got a VHS tape of music videos he did from the 70's - 90's. So, when Mr. Joel started his set that night we were amazed and blown away by how many "B side" songs he played. And we knew them all! We were bouncing around and singing along while most people around us seemed to just be waiting for Piano Man. Anyway, it was totally a concert for BJ nerds. FABULOUS! (In case you, yourself are a BJ nerd, here are some of the songs he played: Miami 2017, Zanzibar, Its Just a Fantasy, The Entertainer, Pressure, Allentown, And So It Goes, and some others...)
Elaine was also super excited to mee Uncle Jarod that weekend. He rode the train down and got sufficient niece cuddle time before riding back up to Chicago with Grammy & Gramps. He chatted and philosophized with Elaine at length about various topics, played music for her, and gave her more idea as to broaden her facial expressiveness.
It was a fabulous weekend with the Facknitz fam and Elaine so looks forward to hanging out with her Michigander family again soon!

Aunt Kara, Uncle Ken, and The Bee Gees
Elaine was so excited to meet more Facknitz kin! This time in the form of super-hip Aunt Kara and suave Uncle Ken. They drove down from Chicago for an overnight and came bearing gifts. The COOLEST hand-made gifts we've ever seen, let alone received. Most Facknitzes are connoisseurs of all kinds of music and Aunt Kara is no exception... except her palette is more colorful than most. Turn on Meatloaf's "Bat Outta Hell" album and Kara will throw herself around the room in a brilliant display of karaoke theater for the entire hour. Its impressive.
So, of course Elaine was quite excited to be the recipient of some of Aunt Kara's flair, matching Bee Gees shirts and an additional onesie with 80's duo, Hall and Oats. Both were hand made by Aunt Kara and are one of a kind.
Of course, Aunt Kara also began educating Elaine on who these groups are and their contributions to the music world. She made a special Bee Gees mix CD for her and told her of their humble beginnings:

Since their visit, Elaine and I have been spending our mornings listening to Aunt Kara's Bee Gees mix and a Hall and Oats Greatest Hits Grandpa Facknitz sent us (that's you, Ricky). Elaine had the idea of making a music video... so here it is. Its her first amateur effort so I'm sure you all will be very supportive. We actually didn't think to put the onesie on until after shooting and we couldn't quite re-create the magic of the first recording so we kept the original. You all know how that goes!

We quite enjoyed the Rosengren visit and can't wait to see them again soon! We'll be enjoying our new 'records' until then. (Oh, Elaine will also be enjoying the very ridiculous Ugly Pet stuffed animal as well, looks like plushy road kill.)
